WatchGuard AuthPoint is being used in all our company departments, for the authentication of all our users when they connect to our network remotely via SSL VPN. We also use Authpoint for the user authentication on our NextCloud installation. We intend to use it in the future for granting access to specific applications via the WatchGuard Access Portal on our Fireboxes.
  • Only one device allowed to have each token.
  • Online token requirement for push notifications adds extra security.
  • Very fast authentication.
  • Firebox-DB users can't use AuthPoint as second form of authentication e.g., authenticate Firebox-DB users with their local password and then use AuthPoint push notification.
  • AuthPoint authentication responses are not bound to a specific authentication request. The correlation between the authentication response and the authentication request is purely time based. Any authentication response for a specific user that is received in a specific time frame since the request was made is accepted as a valid response, even if it belongs to another authentication attempt!!! This does leave room for error and exploits.
  • There are no AuthPoint password complexity policies that can be enforced to the AuthPoint users.
  • There is no setting for each company to enforce a password reset of all company AuthPoint users every xx days.
WatchGuard AuthPoint does work well for the authentication of SSL VPN users, as well as our NextCloud user authentication. It will probably also work fine if set up to be used for the user authentication on the Access Portal of the Firebox. It could probably also be used for other remote access scenarios like Citrix remote clients and so on. Windows login security can also be greatly improved when Authpoint is used with it. We are also looking into this scenario at the time.

We use WatchGuard AuthPoint in our organization and we setup it for our customers. It's very easy to deploy and you can improve your business security by adding Multi Factor Authentication when you need to connect via VPN or login to devices or access remote server. You can confirm your identity with push notification or OTP or QR code.
  • You can use it to connect to VPN by setting up WatchGuard firewall
  • You can deploy it with Citrix Storefront to connect to your infrastructure
  • You can also use it to login to your own pc with Windows 10 or 11
  • It's easy to setup it on a cloud console but there isn't a wizard procedure
  • You can't use it almost everywhere as Microsoft Authenticator or Google Authenticator
  • You can't use it for all operating system
We provide it to our customers when they need to use VPN to connect to their network and this solution improved security since you need to provide your username, password and confirm a push notification or with a OTP from your own device as a mobile phone with AuthPoint app and the token. If you don't want to use a mobile phone it's possible to you hardware token

Quick, efficient way to deploy MFA within WatchGuard tech stack. We primarily use for MFA enforcement onIKEv2 & SSL VPNs.
  • Simple MFA deployment on VPNs
  • Active directory integration for more complex deployments / lower admin overhead after implementation
  • Ability to deploy with user id DB in cloud for smaller / simpler deployments
  • Have had issues where Firebox comes "disconnected" from the cloud, which results in VPN functionality outage
  • Mobile app does not always provide push notifications, even with sufficient device permissions - We train users to open the app when attempting to auth
  • I am not sure if 3rd party authenticators are supported, possible they are and I'm unaware, but this would be a nice feature, occasionally receive objections to installation on personal devices
AuthPoint is the obvious choice if you already have a WatchGuard edge device, particularly if using it for VPN endpoint. I have not tried implementing it for other services, although it has this capability, but if I didn't already have a WG techstack, I would look at other alternatives to protect non-WatchGuard services.

We use Authpoint to better secure VPN for our remote staff, approximate 85% of our staff are remote and work from both home, client sites and Public venues. MFA is crucial if staff are working remotely. Authpoint was selected based on cost, ease of use and configuration, and overall compatability with our firewalls (Watchguard.) Though we use Office 365 and SharePoint intensively, we have specific internal apps that staff must use and specific data sets kept behind our firewalls that can only be accessed remotely when on VPN. Securing the connection is essential. Authpoint is an important part in our multi-layered desktop and communications security.
  • Works well with the free Authpoint client and the OpenVPN clinet.
  • Token management is simple and hosted completely in the cloud to reduce overall complexity
  • Setup was simple and and staighforward
  • Suppports several authentication methods we have used both RADIUS and SAML effectively, but ADFS, IDP, RDWeb, and RESTful API, and other custom apps are supported.
  • Geofencing for RDP has been very useful as it is independant of our firewall geofencing. This is quite useful for organizations like us who do not Geofence at at the firewall level so as to provide global access to resources on the DMZ.
  • Authpoint can integrate with other vendors firewalls, but this is not easily set up. The company could provide better support when customers who need to use a firewall from a third party vendor.
  • The Authpoint native desktop client can fail and need it processes killed at the OS level. At time only a restart can restore functionality. This occurs on about .05% of the connections
  • Thought the actual setup is fairly simple the documentation is mediocre.
Watchguard Authpoint is well suited to both small and large companies and scales well. It can be adapted to a number of token delivery methods, and mutliple methods (Push, QR code, OTP) can be used simultaneously to support users in different authentication contexts. The geokinetics function allows for real control of international travelers distinguishing them from random individuals using stolen credentials in random remote locations.

We use Authpoint as our Multi Factor Authentication. The problem this addresses is unwanted access from the public.
  • Easy to use interface
  • User Management is easily understood
  • users have adapted fairly easy not a lot of push back
  • Users complain that they have to authenticate multiple time on login. It should only be once.
  • Better user instructions on login screens, some users had trouble the first time logging in with authpoint
  • better Notification if tokens are out of sync or just can't be assigned to a user
I recently had the opportunity to explore WatchGuard AuthPoint, and I must say, it stands out as a robust and user-friendly authentication solution. Any company that has a need for MFA, this is a great product. It is very easy to manage users and create and remove tokens for each account. If you are familiar with Active directory, it syncs seamlessly with all your users.

We are always looking for way to improve our security stack for ourselves and for our customers. Making the move to Authpoint was a no-brainer. This has been a great product allowing us to keep all of our firewall interactions for VPN and administration safe and secure at all times. The best part is that unlike some of the other apps out there, it provides a simple one-push confirmation pop-up. This feature makes it extremely user friendly so that anyone in the organization can use it regardless of their technical expertise.
  • MFA
  • quick push notifications that don't delay
  • keeping security at the forefront of our network models
  • single sign on capability
  • I have yet to find anything
  • this product already works great
  • it does exactly what it is intended to do and does it well
  • I would like to see an option for more of the fields to populate across different feature segments when programming
The Watchguard Authpoint is always used by us on every single one of our Watchguard deployments. We use the Firebox as our standard for the vast majority of our customers, as well as in our own offices. This product allows for the easy deployment, reliability, security, and customization we demand from every solution we implement. The user friendly app makes it a great solution for all users in an organization regardless of technical skill level. Security is paramount, but users have to WANT to comply. Some similar apps on the market make it more challenging or intimidating for some users.

It is used at our own organization and at multiple customers. We like how easy it is for the users to use the MFA application. It is a very stable solution to manage. As an MSP you get a dashboard with all your customers in one place. Very easy to maintain and to set it up!
  • Push Notifications
  • Protection of Windows and mac computer with Logon app
  • Easy of use for IT administrators
  • Ability to convert service provider accounts back to normal customer accounts
  • The ability to disable the change 6-digit passhprase when users only use the push option
  • The ability to brand the app to own color/logo
It is easy to set up and use when you want to protect a customer from external access with Multi Factor Authentication. When you have a WatchGuard as a firewall it is easy and possible to connect the WatchGuard directly to AuthPoint. It also connects with Azure AD if you have a customer which doesn't have an on-premise server.

Authpoint solved the problem, of being able to secure two-factor authentication without needing to use an internal LDAP servThe prncpal business need was to migrate users from standard authentication based on lognames and passwords stored on the firewall, to one with that offered greater security. By corporate policy, there was no option to delegate authentication to an internal LDAP server or Azure AD services.Authpoint solved the problem, of being able to provide the security of two-factor authentication without necessarily having to use an internal LDAP server or Azure AD.Ease of use and configuration are a plus of the product, minimal learning time for those who must then manage the service.
  • Ease of implementation
  • App compatibility even on older smartphones
  • Used with watchguard firewalls, it would be useful to have a multiple user creation system.
  • With some phone carriers, there is some latency, between logging in and the appearance of push confirmation on the app.
very suitable in all those situations for companies that do not want to use Azure AD, or manage SSLVPN user authentication on an internal AD. (An expired password would make access to corporate resources difficult).

The commercial problem that Watchguard Authpoint addresses are diverse, being among them, that it serves as a two-factor authentication token when users manage the passwords of their accounts; as well as it is useful as a security layer, for the VPN connections of the company's collaborators, since it generates a notification after the user establishes a VPN communication, where he must approve or deny said connection, by means of a received reception on his cell phone, in order to guarantee that the user who is in need of communication is the same one who appeared in the notification produced by the token.
  • Double Factor Authentication
  • Key or password generator token
  • I have no complaints with this product
  • I am more than satisfied with what I can do with this magnificent tool
WatchGuard Authpoint is suitable for any scenario, either as a key token generator to access systems or as a two-factor authentication token for VPN connections.

Authpoint is easy to set up and configure, very knowledgeable forum to help you set it up. All is managed through the cloud which is ideal for managing multiple companies.
It's a perfect solution for a lot of companies that don't have MFA on their VPNs, which is probably the most critical thing to have it on. Implementing this allows us to make sure our network is more secure from those remote locations.
  • Security
  • Easy Setup
  • Client ease-of-use
  • Would be nice to use another app for the 2fa
Some scenarios based on my experience where Watchguard AuthPoint is well suit would be remote working. If someone have a full domain with a file server it can be really beneficial to use AuthPoint as it adds an extra level of security for any company. The push to notifications make it a lot easier on the user side of things too.

A reliable and cost efficient 2 factor authentication for our customers. Mainly used for MFA VPN access for authenticated users to work remote. Before using WatchGuard AuthPoint, we did not have a good solution for all our customers in using MFA to connect to a VPN. This was preventing us from allowing VPN access to medical users.
  • user friendly
  • clean interface
  • fast response time
  • Integration with the VPN can sometimes word itself in a confusing manor
  • Allow the WatchGuard VPN to have a simple "Push" button instead of making users type a 1 or 0, and then cause the push to appear on the device
  • Make the push more apparent/adjust the default notification
AuthPoint is a great solution for MFA for VPN. The simplicity of the management console and tokens compared to other MFA applications is night and day. You simply set it up and let it go. If someone loses a phone, it takes you two clicks to deactivate and create a new one for their new device.

We have been using WatchGuard Firewall products for many years in our organization. When the Covid-19 pandemic happened, we needed a way to allow employees to work from home and authenticate securely to our company network. We utilized WatchGuard AuthPoint as a way to accomplish this. AuthPoint's ability to integrate with our domain and provide seamless multifactor authentication has been a life saver for our IT staff and employees.
  • Easy to use mobile phone applications for approving access.
  • Seamless integration with on-premise domains and users.
  • Cloud management that is always available.
  • Documentation could be improved.
  • Ability to use SMS for authorization codes could be helpful.
  • Better way to transfer tokens to new devices.
WatchGuard AuthPoint integrates easily with other WatchGuard products. If you are already using WatchGuard Firewalls or WatchGuard Cloud, this service will be seamless to add. If you are not using other WatchGuard products, I would look for another solution for multifactor authentication.

We use WatchGuard AuthPoint for multifactor authentication (MFA) of VPN service. It has been implemented at several of our customers, and having particularly liked it, we decided to use it internally as well to ensure the security of our remotely connected employees
  • Multi factor authentication
  • Push notification
  • OTP generation
  • Better compatiblity with other VPN clients (es. OpenVPN) for alla MFA types, not only with push notifications
WatchGuard AuthPoint is ideal for implementing MFA in VPNs. In addition to this, it can be successfully used for any other service that requires MFA, on a par with the many authenticators on the market

Me and my team use WatchGuard AuthPoint every day and its a vital part of our identity protection and overall cybersecurity system. AuthPoint is very easy to use and we've integrated it with all of our systems - O365, Active Directory, several cloud applications, and all of our remote access applications including our VPN. We've been impressed with the reliability of AuthPoint and we also like how easy it is to use and to teach others to use. In addition to using it internally, we've also deployed AuthPoint for many of our clients and they are very happy with the ease of use, affordability, and reliability. I highly recommend WatchGuard AuthPoint to anyone looking for an identity protection solution, and anyone looking for a reliable, easy-to-use and affordable MFA solution.
  • Very reliable
  • Easy to use
  • Easy to integrate to any platform
  • Affordable
  • Would love an integrated password manager
  • Would love a password vault that can be shared based on team roles
AuthPoint is a great fit for anyone looking for a reliable, easy to use and affordable MFA solution to improve their identity security and overall cybersecurity posture. AuthPoint is great for Active Directory integration, great for Office 365 integration and great with any SAML based integration application. AuthPoint has over 150 application integrations already published, and beyond those it can integrate with pretty much any SAML based app.

We use WatchGuard AuthPoint to provide 2 factor authentication for our VPN users. We currently use IKEv2 VPN offered through our WatchGuard firewall. We wanted to provide an extra layer of security for any internal user looking to access our network remotely.

  • Easy to implement
  • Large third-party services and applications integration
  • OTP when Push can't work
  • Powerful but cost-effective
  • To many steps to get to Watchguard Cloud
The main purpose to implement the MFA for my customers was to provide an easy-to-implement, flexible and cost-effective solution to ensure that only allowed users can remotely access the LAN. The pandemic showed any Company that allowing employees to work remotely is a great resource for both. For IT managers is crucial that the large use of VPNs is not to become an open door for anyone who just stole credentials. With the latest firmware on the recent firewalls, the implementation became even easier since a RADIUS Client Resource in AuthPoint is not necessary anymore. The associated Mobile App runs either on Android or iOS. Another interesting use case is to prevent unauthorized users from login into crucial Windows Server implementing the Logon app. We, administrators, are very careful in keeping secret an administrator account password but, for different reasons, it can be breached. After entering such a password an automatic request for approval reaches the AuthPoint App on your smartphone so, if it is not you, not only the intruder can’t log in, but you know that such credentials had been breached and you must immediately change the password and investigate back. My advice, go for it!

We integrated WatchGuard AuthPoint into our existing Watchguard network for MFA requirements along with the constant need to secure our networks. We were looking for a solution that addressed the security needs for VPN and remote office workplace and this was perfect.
  • easy user interface
  • mobile compatible
  • integrates with many different setups
  • The mobile app is confusing as many users think the app is downloading, but it's just actively ready for connections.
  • There are a couple of Watchguard apps on the appstore and many users seem to get confused with which to install
  • The notification screen to approve the connection could be a little more clear.
WatchGuard AuthPoint is a great option for anyone who has existing WatchGuard products in their environment. It installs seamlessly and work together perfectly. With it being cloud based, I was able to get everything up and running in just a couple of days. If I didn't have existing WatchGuard products already in our environment, I maybe would have looked at competitive products, but I wouldn't have ruled out WatchGuard AuthPoint even if we didn't.

Easier to use and deploy than our previous solution. Especially since we increased our remote workforce, WatchGuard AuthPoint has helped us quickly deploy access to our employees to allow them to work remotely and ensure that their access was secure. WatchGuard AuthPoint is also very easy to deploy and use with few management requirements.
  • Easy to deploy
  • Easy to use
  • Easy to manage
  • Not too expensive
  • Easier access to logs
  • Easier deployment for new users
  • Better warning on licence expiration
It's well suited for easy access as it allows push authentication that does not require the user to type codes. It's much easier and faster for the user to use and requires less training as it is automated and user-friendly. Does not require any extra license fee if you use a software key compared to other solutions.

We use WatchGuard AuthPoint in many areas in our organization. From authenticating ourselves as an administrator of our Firebox, Accessing our computers with Logon, authenticating our VPNs and the AuthPoint application on our phones as a token manager. This technology has allowed us to mitigate risks such as: reused passwords, unauthorized access to resources, shared passwords between users.
  • Managing tokens.
  • Logon.
  • To create good habits with the use of credentials.
  • Mitigating the risk of our credentials being compromised.
  • Easier API integration.
  • Logon for Linux.
  • More profiles.
AuthPoint is appropriate for companies concerned about the security of their information, since it allows us to deliver resources to the user for whom it is intended. If we talk about suitable scenarios, AuthPoint is recommended for any type of company. It is less appropriate work environments where user schemes are not defined, or there are no specific policies on team management, for example teams where there is only one user per computer, with users doing totally different functions, it should be noted that integration with Other Firewalls limits sales of this product as potential customers prefer to stick with their captive portal authentication solution provided by their current firewall.

I began using Authpoint for 2fa authentication on our VPN. I plan to tie it to quite a bit more because the push notifications are very convenient. We tie it into the active directory and push user tokens by adding the group membership to their AD login. This is super convenient and allows us to cut an account all at once in one location.
  • Ease of set up.
  • Ease of use.
  • Cloud console provides good usage details.
  • I would like more feedback when Login attempts fail, maybe a separate push notification to admin.
  • With the AD tie-in, it fails if an email address is not listed but doesn't give feedback on why it failed to send a set-up email.
For use, Authpoint with push notifications is a much nicer 2fa token, the tie with the active director is convenient and allows us to cut accounts and services from one point as well as allow users to use one safe secure login. I have been pleased with Authpoint and have had no issues outside; wanting a little more feedback on login fails.

WatchGuard AuthPoint provides MFA capabilities to many different products. As a service provider, it allows supervision on all customers that buys WatchGuard AuthPoint through us. The administration is a breeze since setup guides are readily available on the WatchGuard Website. It has been implemented as a MFA for servers and Desktops and securing SSLVPN for WatchGuard and FortiGate firewalls.
  • MFA on the cloud
  • Ease of Administration
  • Availability of Authpoint service
  • Many integrations with today's applications
  • Some product integration requires Authpoint Gateway. Meaning additional service to maintain
  • WatchGuard AuthPoint Logon App unable to secure usernames with spacing
  • Loading speed of WatchGuard Cloud console can improve
I will recommend it to be implemented on servers. The prompting of MFA when RDP forces small companies to create users for each administrators. Also effective in securing laptops. Our primary requirement for using WatchGuard Authpoint is multi-factor authentication. We wanted to increase the security of our network with MFA. After the pandemic, most of the users are working from home and using the network resources remotely. Securing our network from cyber attacks is our first priority, and WatchGuard Authpoint helps us with that.
  • MFA for VPN
  • MFA on computer logins
  • Security on active sync requests
  • The integration with my firewall can be better
  • Implementation is tedious
  • All of our information is on their cloud which makes me nervous
The two biggest challenges we faced were VPN clients and users who have local admin rights on their computers. We were looking for a solution that protects us with MFA and user friendly. After looking into a few options, we liked WatchGuard AuthPoint. One of our requirements was also to set up MFA for internal requests like active directory changes. We use WatchGuard Authpoint to secure our VPN (WatchGuard Mobile VPN) group and our servers. There are 100+ users that have VPN access as needed. This secures that connection with its multi-factor authentication ensuring that the employee is the user connecting to our resources. It provides MFA for our server access too. There are only 3 users with access to our servers but it alleviates any concerns of a rogue individual gaining access.
  • Relatively easy to set up from the end user side
  • Utilizes cell phone technology
  • Allows employees options - code, push, hardware token, etc.
  • Syncs with AD
  • End-User setup - When finished it should highlight it was successful and they can close the app. Many left it open and thought it was not setup
  • Initial IT setup is a little involved but WG support / sales was helpful
It works very well to secure our VPN and our servers. We utilize Microsoft 365 and chose to keep the M365 MFA turned on rather than route it via WatchGuard AuthPoint. It seemed a little patched together to get it to work. Also, we did not want to leave all our eggs in one basket. If there are issues with Authpoint at any time users will still be able to access their Microsoft 365 services with the Microsoft MFA.
